It is a deliberate alternative to online-only apps, quizzes and postal subscriptions.

Your weight-loss care at Medicine Stop is led by Tarndeep Singh Vaid, a GPhC-registered pharmacist and Independent Prescriber. He carries out your assessment, prescribes where it is clinically appropriate, and reviews your progress himself. You are not passed between call-centre staff or a different clinician each time.

Your consultation

The consultation is the foundation of the service, and it costs £20. It is a genuine, unhurried assessment with an Independent Prescriber who can examine you, answer your questions and make a safe clinical decision, which is something a website cannot do. Booking it commits you to nothing.
What happens in your appointment

- Hands-on checks: weight, BMI and blood pressure, measured properly in person
- A review of your current medicines and any health conditions
- An honest decision on whether weight-loss medication is safe and right for you

Care that continues
If you start treatment, the service does not end at the prescription. You get in-person follow-up reviews to track progress, manage any side effects and adjust your plan, with practical support on diet, activity and habits along the way.
Every appointment takes place in our private consultation room on Church Street, never at the open counter.
Eligibility
Am I eligible for weight loss treatment?
Weight-loss medication is not right for everyone. As a general guide, you may be suitable if:
- You are aged 18 or over
- Your BMI is 30 or above, or 27 or above with a weight-related health condition
- You are ready to make changes to diet and activity alongside any medication
- You do not have a medical condition or take a medicine that would make treatment unsafe
The final decision is always made by our pharmacist after a face-to-face assessment. If we do not think the service is appropriate for you, we will explain why and signpost to alternatives, including your GP.

Injection or tablets
Two ways to do this — chosen with your pharmacist.
Weight-loss medication comes two ways: an injection, or a once-daily tablet taken by mouth. Both are prescription-only, supplied only after a pharmacist assessment and only where it's clinically suitable.
You don't need to decide before you come in — at your consultation the pharmacist talks you through both and helps you choose the one that fits you best. It's the same booking either way.

Is weight loss medication safe, and what about side effects?
Licensed weight-loss medication is generally well tolerated, but side effects can happen. Because the service is in person you get follow-up reviews and can speak to the pharmacist during opening hours if anything concerns you.
Do I have to start treatment at the consultation?
No. The consultation is an honest clinical assessment. If the service is right for you, you can choose to go ahead. If it is not, the pharmacist will explain why and suggest alternatives, including NHS routes through your GP.
